Serviced apartments are steadily replacing hotels for any trip longer than a couple of days: more space, a private kitchen, far easier to settle into, and usually better value when you travel as a group. If this is your first time renting one, these six points will help you get it right on your very first booking.
1. Be clear about why you are staying and for how long
Before you start browsing apartments, answer three questions: how many people, how long, and what for — a business trip, a holiday, or somewhere quiet to work. Someone on a two-night business trip and a family staying two weeks need completely different apartments.
2. Read the amenity list carefully, do not just look at the photos
Photos only tell part of the story. Check whether the apartment has a kitchen, a fridge, its own washing machine and a desk, and whether the Wi-Fi is stable enough for video calls. For a long stay, an apartment with a kitchen and a washing machine is a world apart from one that is only good for sleeping.
